Aged through unknown years

This photo was one of many taken at Lake Tahoe in the Mountains for an album that I fondly refer to as my "dead tree" collection. For some strange reason, I was drawn to take photo after photo of these massive trees which have quietly watched the world go by for an unknown number of years. They still stand with such grandeur, but have withered to their current state of aged beauty. I find them ironic and a symbol our own divine journey on this earth.

This is my entry into Carmi's Thematic Photography blog http://writteninc.blogspot.com/

"...a symbol of our own divine journey on this earth." Amen. And, a bit how I feel about "aged" homes. =) If walls could talk...

fascinating ... the stories this tree could tell!

"only a bird will miss it, only a butterfly, hastening from far journey, on it's breast to lie"

your photo reminded me of that old poem ... and I think how many creatures have been hosted by that massive old tree.

I love how you captured the massive presence of this amazing tree. I can feel the crick in my neck as I look at it...I feel like I need to lean back to take it all in!

Trees freak me out in a good way. I could shoot them forever - and I'm happy you chose one for the aged theme.

Amazing photography. Cannot get more than a blur from a camera, myself. Perhaps that's all for the best. However, ask me to write a story involving said tree, and I shall succeed without blurring anything.

Well done.
